A delegation of the UNODC's Terrorism Prevention Branch (TPB) led by Chief a.i. Mr Mauro Miedico participated in the XVI Meeting of the Heads of Special Services, Security and Law Enforcement Agencies, organized by the Russian Federation and held in Krasnodar on 4 and 5 October 2017.
Over 300 participants from 75 States and four international organizations - the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organizations, the Commonwealth of the Independent States, and the European Union - attended the event.
The discussions focused primarily on the topics of foreign terrorist fighters and the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes.
The TPB Chief a.i. Mauro Miedico delivered a presentation to brief attendees on the UNODC's technical assistance in response to the challenges discussed at the meeting and to identify priority areas for such technical assistance.
The participants reaffirmed the Meeting's commitment to the creation of a united global counter-terrorism alliance, with the United Nations playing a central coordinating role.
