Regional Office Middle East and North Africa - Violence against women and girls (VAW&G) is a grave violation of human rights. Were you really raped, or did you just not get paid? A Needs Assessment of Women who use Drugs in Four Cities in South Africa
South Africa - UNODC supported a series of interactive consultations with women who use drugs, including women who inject drugs, in four cities within South Africa, namely: Pretoria, Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg with the aim to identify their needs and challenges/barriers to access health services and propose solutions to removing such barriers. About 100 women who use and inject drugs participated in these consultations.  Key findings include the existence of extreme levels of sexual violence and sexual rights violations experienced by women who use drugs and high levels of stigma among service providers, leading to limited accessing of key health services.  [Read more]

UNODC holds all-female interregional training to strengthen response against Cocaine Production and Trafficking in Colombia
2-5 December 2019 - Colombia -  The underrepresentation of women in criminal justice institutions, as is the case in many countries, has a negative impact on numerous aspects of drug responses. United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) under the framework of the CRIMJUST Project with the support of the " Integrated System  for  Monitoring Illicit Crops" (SIMCI) took this issue front-on, by implementing a capacity building course for female law enforcement officers and prosecutors in order to enhance women's participation, leadership, empowerment and non-discrimination in a sector that is often dominated by men.  [Read more]

Despite her young age, Orzigul has very creative mindset and can openly express her opinions in a very sensible way. Orzigul attends the crafts classes at the "Barkamol Avlod" Centre, children's arts and crafts place of Almalyk city.
