Each month UNODC receives requests from countries around the world about how to use the 'Listen First' materials. Currently, the materials are available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Serbian, and Slovenian. And we are pleased to announce that countries such as the United States, Poland, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Lithuania have recently expressed interest and are on the path to translating the materials into local languages. In Finland, ‘EHYT Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention’, is working to translate ‘Listen First’ materials into Finnish. They are teaming up with health and social care officials, as well as other organizations, to raise awareness of the importance of supporting all families and providing possibilities to reflect on and learn parenting practices, for advancing public health, among parents and professionals.
So how can you get involved? The possibilities are endless but below are some ideas to get you started:
Undoubtedly, you have noticed the emphasis placed on science within the 'Listen First' materials. UNODC will make the materials available, but we ask that you collect data and let us know how you used the materials and what impact 'Listen First' had in your country. And you never know, you could be featured in our monthly newsletter! If you're interested, please go to the 'Listen First' website and complete the engagement form or contact Ms. Elizabeth Mattfeld, UNODC PTRS, Global Programme Coordinator at elizabeth.mattfeld@un.org.
