Since 2012, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Youth Initiative has been committed to uniting young people from around the globe. The focus of the Youth Forum is to provide a platform for youth to engage in evidence-based prevention and to inspire active participation in their communities, schools, and youth organizations to prevent substance use and promote health. The annual Youth Forum is a prominent event of UNODC that highlights the organisation's dedication to empowering youth through educational and preventive measures. It is a safe place for youth to exchange experiences and learn about evidence-based prevention, and all participating youths attend in their own personal capacity. With youths reflecting on ways to promote and advocate for evidence-based prevention efforts back in their communities, the Youth Forum contributes to fostering a generation of informed and proactive young leaders.
With the conclusion of the Youth Forum 2024 and as we prepare for the Youth Forum 2025, we are excited to share the outcome report of this year's event. This report, accompanied by a special highlights video, showcases the vibrant activities that took place over three days. And here is a separate video that captures the inspiring moment when the youth made their joint statement before Plenary at the 67th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs. Invigorated by the in-person, youthful presence of participants on the grounds of the Vienna International Centre, UNODC re-committed to work with and for youth. Empowered youth can help one another, and the next generation can play a role in creating a better world.
As we lay the groundwork for Youth Forum 2025, UNODC is pleased to announce the call for nominations of young leaders for next year's event. Active youths interested in participating should note that nominations must be submitted by their respective Permanent Missions. Following the nomination, a selection process will determine the final participants. Nominations are currently open, and we encourage interested individuals to connect with relevant government organisations, schools, or civil societies that may be involved in the nomination process. The Youth Forum 2025 aims to continue to provide valuable opportunities for learning, interaction, engagement, and inspiration. By participating in this initiative, young leaders can make meaningful contributions to substance use prevention and health promotion, ultimately helping to create a better world.
