The Office of the United Nations on Drugs and Crime (UNODC Chad) proceeded on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in N'Djamena in the room of ONAMA to the Official Launch of the project "Trust Building" Strengthening trust between the populations - Security and Defense Forces - Actors of the criminal chain.

This project, which falls within the framework of the UNODC Sahel program, supports Chad's efforts to promote peace, justice and social cohesion by recruiting, among other initiatives, United Nations volunteers to strengthen dialogue between law enforcement officials and communities.

The aim was to strengthen or restore confidence between the judiciary, the security forces (national/local and joint) and the population of the Sahel to ensure high levels of credibility and assist the G5 Sahel states in their fight against Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism.

This launch is a continuation of the project presentation workshop and validation of the terms of reference of the "Confidence Building" project that took place the previous two days (19 and 20 December). The aim of the workshop was to present the project, its approach, to diagnose the different problems and its implementation strategy in order to benefit from the support of the authorities and technical services.

The implementation of this initiative requires the contribution of all without exception. To this end, UNODC has requested further contributions from the Chadian side so that when the time comes to take stock, they will have good results to the great satisfaction of the actors in particular and the entire nation in general. This is why we have opted for this participatory approach with the National side for this planning. On behalf of his hierarchy, the Head of the Chad Office thanked all the actors who spared no effort for the implementation of this project in Chad. Special thanks to the administrative authorities for their unconditional and unceasing support for this UNODC/Chad Office, which is making its way to assistance. Together, we will work towards an ideal to which we all aspire, namely a Chad of peace and social cohesion.
