The crime statistics digest was prepared on the basis of the Kyrgyz Republic National Statistical Committee data, and provides an analysis of certain socio-economic indicators for 2010-2014, as well as statistical data that characterizes the state of crime in the country and its regions during this period. Preparation of the analytical material and the publication of the digest was carried out with the support of the Criminal Justice Programme of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the Kyrgyz Republic (UNODC).

According to the data presented in the digest, the most criminogenic regions of Kyrgyzstan still remain to be the cities of Bishkek and Osh and Chui and Issyk-Kul oblasts.

The largest proportion of crimes out of the total number of registered crimes is against private property. This is followed by violent crimes. The new statistics aslo registered an annual growth of crimes related to drug trafficking. The number of crimes committed while intoxicated has also significantly increased . Crimes are mostly committed by the unemployed and students.

Today the main task of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is to give an objective assessment of the current situation and developments in the trends of crime, to identify an effective action plan for reduction and prevention. At the same time, the main task of all the services responsible for the collection and processing of statistical information is to provide timely, complete and qualitative data in the area of crime.
