UNODC supports Kazakhstan's practitioners in developing and implementing ML/TF/FP typologies considering new trends, methods and risks.

On 25-27 July 2023, UNODC, jointly with OSCE, organised a workshop on "ML/FT/FP Typologies: design, use, and development opportunities" for the regulatory and supervisory authorities and the private sector.

The workshop was attended by 16 practitioners from regulatory and supervisory authorities (10 women), and 24 participants from the private sector (16 women).

The main goal of the training workshop was to develop cooperation and strengthen the capacity of regulatory and supervisory authorities with the private sector in combating the legalisation (laundering) of proceeds from crime and the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT).

The workshop highlighted the role of interagency cooperation and collaboration, as well as the private sector's potential in developing and implementing ML/TF/FP typologies. The event utilised modern methods of training practitioners, which are applied by UNODC experts systematically. The focus was on practical tasks to analyse and develop typologies, considering current ML/TF trends.

Participants noted that the practical cases of the seminar helped them understand new trends and methods for developing and implementing ML/TF typologies. International experts organised discussions between regulators and supervisors and presented AML/CFT risks and trends to the private sector.

The training workshop was organised with expert support from the UNODC Global Programme against Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime, and the Financing of Terrorism (GPML) and financial support from the US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
