Press Release: Precursors Case Meeting was held by UNODC 

8 November 2017, Almaty, Kazakhstan 

Following the recommendations of the 9 th meeting of the Regional Working Group on Precursors (RWGP), a Precursor Case Meeting (PCM) was held on 8 November 2016 at the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC), with the participation of 24 representatives from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan as well as CARICC and the Joint Planning Cell.

 

The meeting was aimed at reviewing concrete investigation cases of precursor chemical seizures, with the country delegates presenting  general information and sharing some specific details on major precursor seizure cases in 2016, which could help with the further development of investigations at the regional level. 

During the meeting, the delegations agreed on initiating backtracking investigations and information sharing at the regional level in regards to  four investigation cases. The participants decided to hold the next meeting on the aforementioned cases at the Joint Planning Cell meeting to be held in Teheran, Iran.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the UNODC Regional Programme for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries and funded by the generous contribution of the European Union.
