Regional workshop on the use of WCO Customs Enforcement Network Communication Platform (CENcomm) 3

26-27 April 2023, Skopje, North Macedonia: UNODC organized a regional workshop in cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO) on the use of Customs Enforcement Network Communication Platform (CENcomm) 3, a web-based communication system permitting a closed user group of law enforcement officers to exchange messages via encrypted channels, in real time, for the duration of an operation or project.

The workshop was dedicated to practical exercises on access to CENcomm 3, warning and structured messages in the application and how to provide feedback on seizures in the system. Participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and North Macedonia had the opportunity to work in CENcomm 3 and to practice their use of the system to exchange and disseminate information in a secure environment, during special border enforcement operations, especially when time is critical.

The workshop was held within the framework of the joint EU-UNODC action on promoting the rule of law and good governance through targeted border control measures at ports and airports implemented by UNODC-WCO-INTERPOL Airport Communications Project (AIRCOP) and the UNODC-WCO Container Control Programme (CCP) in cooperation with the UNODC Regional Programme for South Eastern Europe and generously funded by the European Union.

This activity contributes to SDG 16, particularly SDG 16.a on strengthening relevant national institutions, including through international cooperation, for building capacity at all levels, in particular in developing countries, to prevent violence and combat terrorism and crime.
