UNODC supports the Development of Practical Guides for Increasing Asset Recovery in Bosnia and Herzegovina

13 June 2023, Gracanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina: UNODC hosted a workshop for law enforcement and judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to enhance the capacities for asset recovery by developing Fast Action Response Guides (FARGs) as a tool to assist police and prosecution in asset confiscation at the earliest stages of the criminal investigation.

FARGs will provide the relevant authorities with an overview of the legal and operational elements that need to be considered to conduct criminal investigations and asset recovery. Once officially approved, the FARGs will be used by practitioners for training and capacity building purposes, as well as a reference during investigations.

The three-day discussions and mutual exchange of experiences among 20 experts from law enforcement and prosecution, asset management and other relevant bodies, as well as academia resulted in the finalization of the draft guides.

The meeting was organized in the framework of the Regional Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance Roadmap under the UNODC Regional Programme for South-Eastern Europe and generously funded by the UK Government.
