Kosovo[1] Launches Fast Action Response Guide for Asset Recovery

5 October 2023, Pristina, Kosovo:  Law enforcement, prosecutorial, and judicial authorities of Kosovo recently gathered in Pristina to launch a new guide for practitioners engaged in asset recovery.

Dubbed Fast Action Response Guide for Asset Recovery, the new tool provides authorities across Kosovo with easy access to all necessary legal and operational information to conduct criminal and financial investigations with the aim of asset recovery.

The launch event, which brought together approximately 30 law enforcement and criminal justice practitioners, featured statements by the Kosovo Minister of Justice, the Chief Prosecutor, and the Chair of the Judicial Council.

Practical presentations and real case studies were demonstrated to the expert audience, showcasing how various practical steps can secure confiscations and the return of criminal proceeds to society.

Participants agreed that this is a concise and practical tool for practitioners to identify available options upon detection of an offence and to determine the appropriate actions, resources and tools needed to conduct effective investigations and increase the volume of seized, frozen and confiscated assets across Kosovo.

The Fast Action Response Guide was developed and published under the leadership of the Office of the Coordinator for Economic Crime and Corruption with technical support from UNODC and funding from the UK Government within the framework of the Regional Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance Roadmap.
