Open-ended Interim Working Group on the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, Vienna, Austria, 10-12 October 2011

In resolution 5/2, entitled "Implementation of the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime", the Conference decided that the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons should continue to advise and assist it in the implementation of its mandate with regard to the Trafficking in Persons Protocol, as set forth in Conference decision 4/4.

Issues proposed for discussion in the provisional agenda include:

  • Trafficking in persons for the purpose of removal of organs;
  • Analysis of key concepts: focus on the concept of "Abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability" in Article 3, Trafficking in Persons Protocol;
  • Victims of trafficking, with particular emphasis on identification;
  • International cooperation in combating trafficking in persons: (a) addressing supply and demand; (b) capacity-building and awareness-raising.

The fourth session of the Trafficking Working Group was held in Vienna, Austria from 10 to 12 October 2011.
