May 2017 – Germany: Increased number of NPS related deaths

BERLIN, Germany – May 2017: According to the German Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigation (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA), NPS related deaths in Germany increased from 39 deaths in 2015 to 98 deaths in 2016. This rise contributed to the general increase of drug related deaths in the country. Overall, 1,333 drug related deaths were reported in 2016 which marks a 9 per cent increase from the previous year.
