July 2019 – Greece: Record amount of amphetamine (“captagon”) pills seized in Greece

PIRAEUS, Greece – July 2019: Between 28th of June and 5th of July 2019, a record amount of over 33 million “captagon” pills, corresponding to more than five tons amphetamine, were seized following a joint investigation of the Department of Narcotics, Weapons and Other Controlled Products of SDOE Attica, the Hellenic Police Force and the Hellenic Coast Guard. The amphetamine pills were seized in three containers coming from Latakia, Syria, with transit in Piraeus, Greece, and destination China. Investigations on the criminals involved and on the intended destination of the drugs are still ongoing.
