April 2014 - United Kingdom: Ketamine reclassified as a Class B drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act

LONDON, United Kingdom - April 2014. The Misuse of Drugs Act has been amended (See Order 2014 No. 1106) to reclassify Ketamine as a Class B drug. Since 2005 ketamine had been controlled as a Class C drug,Amendment Order 2005 No. 3178 under the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971. The Amendment Order No. 1106 also brings under permanent control groups of NBOMe compounds as Class A drugs (some of which were subject to control under a Temporary Class Drug Order (SI 2013/1294)), groups of benzofuran compounds as Class B drugs (some of which were subject to control under a Temporary CDO ((SI 2013/1294)) and places tramadol under control as a Class C drug. The Order was issued on 28 April 2014 and will enter into force on 10th June 2014.
