Since 2009, NPS have been added to the list of controlled substances included in the Cabinet of Ministers' "Regulations on schedules of narcotic and psychotropic substances, drugs and precursors under supervision of the Ministry of Welfare". For instance, BZP, khat, 2C-T-2, 2C-I, 2C-T-7, mCPP, pCPP, MDBP MeOPP, kratom, salvia divinorum, TFMPP and TMA-2 were added in 2009 (see Ministru kabineta noteikumi
Nr.428 Rīgā 2009.gada 12.maijā (prot. Nr.31 40.§)); mephedrone was included in 2011 (see Ministru kabineta noteikumi
Nr.380 Rīgā 2011.gada 17.maijā (prot. Nr.31 28.§)) that came into force on 1 January 2012. Other individual substances placed under control include several JWH- compounds, AM- compounds, MDPV, bk-MBDB, methedrone, buphedrone, etc.
