Since 2003 a number of NPS have been added to the list of controlled substances annexed to the Decree Law 15/93, of 22 January 1993, which is the main law on drug control. The list of controlled substances is divided into six lists, which are regularly updated by decree laws. PMMA was added in 2003 (see Law No. 47-2003); BZP was added in 2009 (see Law 18/2009); mephedrone and several 2C- substances were added in 2012 (see Law No. 13/2-12).
