The Netherlands - June 2016: The Annual Report 2015 of the Drugs Information and Monitoring System (DIMS) has been released (for the first time also available in English). The report provides information on the Dutch market of controlled substances, gathered through the analysis of over 12.000 drug samples that have been collected from almost 14.000 visitors at testing locations throughout the country. The main findings are listed below:
- Several alerts were issued in 2015 to warn against dangerous pills or powders, e.g. pills containing PMMA, white heroin sold as cocaine, alpha-PVP sold as 4-FA and pills containing high doses of MDMA;
- With most samples handed in being ecstasy pills and MDMA powder (60%), the NPS 4-FA ranked on 4th place with 6% followed by ketamine with 3%;
- In 2015, more 4-FA samples were submitted at DIMS than in all other years combined since its first appearance in 2007;
- The number of ketamine samples has tripled over the last three years;
- More than a quarter of samples submitted as LSD contained other substances, mainly NBOMe compounds (11%) and DOC (9%).
