MEDIA ADVISORY: Launch of the 2010 International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Report

24 February, 2011 - The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) releases next Wednesday, 2 March, the 2010 Report, which assesses the progress and setbacks in regard to production, trafficking and consumption of illicit drugs and drug abuse worldwide. The role of corruption in drug trafficking is one of the central themes of the 2010 INCB Annual Report. The report also emphasizes the need for availability of licit drugs for medical and scientific purposes, highlights the tremendous rise in designer drugs and presents recent regional developments.

In Paraguay, the report will be released on 2 March, at 11 a.m. (local time), at the United Nations House (Mariscal Lopez and Saraví) in Asunción. There will be a press conference to present the report, highlighting data relating to Paraguay.

In Brazil, the report will be released on 2 March at 10 a.m (local time) in the room Sérgio Vieira de Mello, at UNDP (EQSW 103/104, Lot 1, Block D - SW), in Brasilia.There will be a press conference to present the report, highlighting data relating to Brazil.

The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) is an independent body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the United Nations treaties on international drug control, ensuring the availability of licit drugs for medical and scientific purposes.
