Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

You are here : Home / What We Do / CPCJ

Our Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme (CPCJ) aims to strengthen the rule of law in Member States in Eastern Africa. This is mainly through the prevention of crime and the promotion of effective, fair, humane and accountable criminal justice systems.

We are committed to supporting interventions that achieve justice priorities in the region by delivering legal and technical assistance to address criminal justice and police reform, and to improve the administration of justice and delivery of justice services.

In doing so, we primarily support progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16) focused on providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Our work under this pillar includes multi-year initiatives and short-term projects.
