September 2015 – United Kingdom: Forensic Early Warning System identifies four new synthetic cannabinoids in 2014/15

United Kingdom – September 2015. The UK Home Office released the Forensic Early Warning System (FEWS) annual report 2014/15 on 17 September. In 2014/15 FEWS obtained and analysed 2,074 samples of substances out of which 1,345 contained substances that were non-controlled in UK at the time of analysis. Of the samples analysed that contained NPS, 55 per cent have been identified as mixtures of two or more substances. Four new NPS have been identified in this period which have not been previously encountered in the UK. These are the synthetic cannabinoids 5F-MN-18, 5F-NPB-18, BZ-2201 and N-Cumyl-1-5F-pentylindazole-3-carboxamide. According to the report, most commonly encountered NPS in the UK market in the past year include: 5F-AKB-48, 5F-PB-22, 5-MeO-DALT, Ethylphenidate, MPA and N-methyl-2AI.
