March 2025 – UNODC: Five NPS and one medicine "scheduled" at the 68th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

VIENNA, Austria – 12 March 2025: At its 68th regular session from 10 to 14 March 2025, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) decided to place five new psychoactive substances and one medicine under international control. Following recommendations by the WHO, four nitazenes were added to the Schedule I of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 as amended by the 1972 Protocol and two substances were added to the relevant schedule of the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971. In the leadup to CND, the UNODC Early Warning Advisory on New Psychoactive Substances recorded it’s 1,300th unique substance report showcasing the need for ongoing vigilance. 


Added to the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961, as amended by the 1972 Protocol – (Schedule I)

1. N-pyrrolidino protonitazene (protonitazepyne)
2. N-pyrrolidino metonitazene (metonitazepyne)
3. Etonitazepipne (N-piperidinyl etonitazene)
4. N-desethyl isotonitazene (norisotonitazene)


Added to the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 – (Schedule II)


1. Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC)
