The establishment of partnerships has been a key feature of the UNODC Programme on Safeguarding Sport from Corruption. Partnerships are central to our work, playing a crucial role in driving our success and impact.
In 2021, UNODC and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend collaboration to fight corruption and crime in sport. This builds on previous MoUs signed between the two organizations in 2018 and 2011.
UNODC is also a partner of the International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS), a multi-stakeholder initiative bringing together sports organizations, governments and intergovernmental organizations to combine efforts for the fight against corruption in sport.
UNODC and FIFA have strengthened their commitment to combating corruption and crime in football by renewing their Memorandum of Understanding in 2023. Since their initial agreement in 2020, the two organizations have collaborated on over 60 initiatives aimed at protecting the integrity of the sport. In 2021, they launched the Global Integrity Programme, which provided all 211 FIFA member associations and criminal justice authorities with the tools to prevent match manipulation through a series of 30 workshops. In October 2024, a second edition of the joint Programme, which will run from 2025-2027, was launched.
