UNODC event on the International Day against Drug Abuse -26 June 2013

 

On the International Day against Drug Abuse, UNODC partnered with FM100 radio station (covering 7 million listeners) and broadcast several radio programmes on drug abuse issue in Pakistan.

The campaign kick started on 16 th June with pre-recorded messages in both Urdu and Pashto languages, along with SMS quiz, live talk shows, radio commercials, public service messages and world drug report 2013 update. Programmes participants included senior Government officials, drug treatment professionals, youth, UNODC and UNAIDS officials as well as NGOs working on drug abuse prevention and treatment.

UNODC has been distributing garden umbrellas to Islamabad police with drug awareness messages printed on them in Urdu language. It's the best medium of creating awareness throughout the year. Due to high demand from police department,  This year on World Drug Day, UNODC, divide out 300 umbrellas among Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad Police.A road show was organized by FM 100 and UNODC on the evening of 26 th June in Islamabad. The event received extensive attention among youth and the general public. 


Pakistan Television also hosted a Talk show on drug abuse prevention on World Drug Day 26 June 2013.
