Global Meeting on Measuring Femicide and Other Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls
The Global Meeting on Measuring Femicide and Other Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls was held from 15 to 17 July 2025 in Vienna. The meeting was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
The event brought together national stakeholders from countries that started implementation of the the statistical framework for measuring the gender-related killing of women and girls, as well as those that had an interest in doing so. The goal was to foster knowledge sharing, strengthen capacities, and promote effective implementation of the statistical framework.
Objectives:
Specifically, the meeting aimed to:
- Assess progress made by countries in implementing the statistical framework.
- Share lessons learned and best practices.
- Discuss the benefits and challenges of the statistical framework and explore potential improvements.
- Provide inputs to the development of an implementation guide for the statistical framework.
- Exchange insights on measuring other forms of gender-based violence.
