The President of Colombia acknowledges the work of UNODC on the World Day Against Human Trafficking     

  

Bogota, 30 july 2014 - Today, countries from all over the world commemorate the first World Day Against Human Trafficking (HT) by carrying out different activities. Colombia joins this celebration with the organization of the I International Meeting of Survivors of Human Trafficking "Breaking the Silence". An event prepared by the Ministry of Interior, Marcela Loaiza Foundation (MLF) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC. The celebration is also supported by the International Organization for Migration-IOM .  Read more

UNODC 2013 survey: coca cultivation area unchanged in Colombia, prices and value of crop markedly down 

26 June 2014 -The area used for the cultivation of coca plants in Colombia remained stable in 2013 compared to the previous year, according to the latest UNODC's coca crop survey. While there were some decreases in cultivated areas in several regions, this was offset by increases in others, leaving the net total of around 48,000 hectares unchanged. The production of coca leaves decreased 14 per cent due to lower yields per hectare.    Read more 

Global drug use prevalence stable, says UNODC World Drug Report 2014

26 June 2014 - Drug use prevalence is stable around the world, according to the 2014 World Drug Report of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with around 243 million individuals, or 5 per cent of the world's population aged 15-64, having used an illicit drug in 2012. Problem drug users meanwhile numbered about 27 million, roughly 0.6 per cent of the world's adult population, or 1 in every 200 people. Read more
