Expert Group Meeting to discuss the 14 E4J University Modules on TIP and SOM

On 10-11 November, UNODC in collaboration with Observa La Trata, organised an Expert Group Meeting to discuss the 14 E4J University Modules on TIP and SOM. The aim of the meeting was to gather regional expertise to improve the modules and make them more relevant to the regional context, for example by adding case-law, examples of good practices in countering TIP and SOM as well as references to the main academic debates from Latin American countries. The EGM was attended by 20 academics (13 women and 7 men) from 14 Latin American countries and 18 academic institutions and organizations.

The Expert Group Meeting took place during two days. Open discussions, presentations as well as group work methodology was used to gather academics' expert inputs on the TIP and SOM University Module series. The first day was dedicated to a brief introduction of the programme and the draft modules, and the collection of recommendations for the regionalization and/or adaptation of the draft modules. The second day was allocated to developing an outline for the development of an additional module, looking specifically at TIP and SOM in the Latin American context. During the second day, participants provided also recommendations for the promotion and implementation of the modules in the region.
