This page contains tools to help you plan, implement, monitor and evaluate prevention activities that are effective and that involve youth at each stage of the project. If you have any questions about these tools, please do not hesitate to write to us. You can find three different kinds of tools.
These are tools that have been developed by the Global Youth Network project on the basis of both the experience of our Network members and of international research. They are meant to be 'how to' guides, including broad principles for action illustrated by examples. If you are interested in the hard copy of the publication, please write to us. Please understand that printed copies of these documents will only be available while supplies last and that orders for more than one copy will be prioritized for youth and organisations with limited access to the Internet. Thank you for your interest in advance!
This section includes some articles about good practices in the field of drug abuse prevention that have been sent out on the youthnet listerv.
We feel that their principles and examples are still valid and interesting.
UNODC works in prevention also through our Field Offices, who often produce prevention materials suited to different countries and regions.
We have tried to pull them together here, in case there is something relevant for your country and region. Moreover, like you, we are constantly looking around for interesting materials from other organisations and we provide you with a link or a scanned copy. Please note that in this case, UNODC is not responsible for the content of the site.

Coaches' Guide for Using Sport to Teach Healthy Life SkillsThe Guide was developed on the basis of our publication 'SPORT: Using Sport for Drug Abuse Prevention' and tested in a 'Football without Borders' camp in Qatar in October 2003. We launched it together with the non-governmental organisation 'Right To Play' at a roundtable forum, "Harnessing the Power of Sport for Development and Peace", in Athens, Greece, on Saturday, 14 August, yes! the second day of the Olympic Games! Speakers included Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Peace and Development, Adolf Ogi, and International Olympic Committee Vice President, Dr. Thomas Bach. The Coaches? Guide is a training package to help coaches maximize the potential of sport. Coaches in all sports (or teachers! or youth leaders!) will find handouts, forms and a detailed guide to conduct an active and fun training for youth aged 10-14 to increase their awareness of the ethical decisions they make in sport, and to practice making decisions based on fair play values.

This section includes some articles about good practices in the field of drug abuse prevention that have been sent out on the youthnet listerv. Some of you may not be familiar with all of the terms used. Most of the time, you will be able to figure them out by looking at one of the tools in the next section. If you still do not understand, write to us at youthmail@unodc.org, and we will be happy to help you out!
