Justice and home affairs statistics systems in the Western Balkans

Project activities include extensive background research, research missions, detailed technical assessment reports and on-site training workshops to upgrade statistical systems. On the basis of the technical assessment, specific guidelines and recommendations for improving data collection systems for all participating countries, as well as the outlines of country-specific training plans have been developed and adopted by all national counterparts at the First Regional Workshop, held in May 2010 in Skopje.

Since then, training workshops have been delivered separately on police statistics, prosecution and court statistics as well as migration statistics. Combined training workshops were held on coordination and international reporting issues. Participants have started working on the design of new data recording templates, proposals for new data to be recorded, the drafting of new counting rules and recording manuals, the development of new formats for publishing data and the start of the pilot-data collection exercise on a number of regional indicators.
