15 September 2009 - On 17 September, experts from the private sector and anti-corruption agencies will gather at the Vienna International Centre for a panel discussion entitled "Is corruption just part of doing business?"
Panelists will focus on how corruption has contributed to the financial crisis and what changes are needed in corporate governance and government regulation to strengthen integrity. They will look at how the United Nations Convention against Corruption applies to the private sector and ask whether the era of banking secrecy is really over.
A report entitled Anti-Corruption Policies and Measures of the Fortune Global 500, produced jointly by PricewaterhouseCoopers and UNODC, will be launched at the event.
The event, to be webcast live on www.unodc.org at 10.30 a.m. Vienna time, will be moderated by Haig Simonian of the Financial Times.
