The Global Programme for Strengthening Capacities of Member States to Prevent and Combat Transnational Organized and Serious Crime (GPTOC) provides technical assistance to Member States to implement the provisions of the UNTOC Convention.
This includes support and secretariat to three judicial cooperation networks, in West Africa, Central Asia and Southern Caucasus, and in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. In addition, the GPTOC Team coordinates with the secretariats of other judicial networks and cooperates with central authorities that do not participate in any network.
The GlobE Network, also supported by UNODC, serves as a platform to exchange information between frontline anti-corruption law enforcement practitioners in all countries across the globe to track, investigate, and prosecute cases of cross-border corruption.
Throughout the cooperation between GlobE Network and GPTOC programme, several mutual legal assistance requests in corruption cases were facilitated by making possible direct consultations between central authorities. In the first quarter of 2022, GPTOC and GlobE collaborated joining efforts to facilitate 4 mutual legal assistance requests issued in complex inter-regional cases of corruption.
