The aim of the conference was to raise awareness of good practices and to disseminate tools to help address corruption linked to the organization of sport events, and in doing so to support the implementation of Conference of the States Parties resolution 7/8, with a particular focus on the involvement and contribution of organizers of major sporting events.
As such, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) publication entitled The United Nations Convention against Corruption: A Strategy for Safeguarding against Corruption in Major Public Events and its support package was used as the basis for the conference.
