The Challenge of Synthetic Drugs in East and South-East Asia - Trends and Patterns of Amphetamine-type Stimulants and New Psychoactive Substances |
||
This report analyses recent trends and developments of the synthetic drugs market in East and South-East Asia region, comprising both amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) and new psychoactive substances (NPS). There is no sign of respite in the expansion of the methamphetamine market in East and South-East Asia. Seizures of both forms of methamphetamine - tablets and crystalline - reached record highs in 2015, and most countries in the region noted increasing use of methamphetamine. While seizures and use of methamphetamine have been rising for many years in the region, the emergence of new psychoactive substances has created a more complex drug situation for national authorities to manage. |
