UNVTF was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2010 as part of the United Nations Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons. The fund is victim-centred and aims to provide essential humanitarian, legal and financial aid to victims of trafficking in persons through established channels of assistance. Since 1994, UNODC has received a contribution from the Drug Abuse Prevention Centre (DAPC) of Japan to support drug prevention activities by non - governmental organisation in low and middle-income countries. Grants have been disbursed globally every year since. This project falls under the thematic programme of addressing health and human development vulnerabilities in the context of drugs and crime.
The objective of this Grants programme is to strengthen the capacity of civil society to prevent drug use globally using evidence-based substance use prevention interventions with a focus on youth.

The main objective of this partner programme is to improve access and utilization of released inmates to gender-sensitive health care services, including primary health care and Voluntary Confidential Counselling and Testing (VCT) services in Alexandria, Al-Fayoum, Cairo, Luxor, Minya and Suhaq governorates of Egypt.
In the framework of the project, UNODC seeks to provide support to national Civil Society Organization (CSOs) based in Egypt to expand health care services for released inmates (upon their return to the community).

The main objective of this partner programme is to improve case management and access to justice for pre-trial detainees, with a focus on inmates held for (an alleged) association with Boko Haram in Maiduguri.
In the framework of the project, UNODC seeks to provide funding support to not-for-profit organisations working in the area of criminal justice reform with a focus on access to justice and legal aid services.
