Member States are hereby informed that the call for applications for financial support to participate in the final negotiating session of the Ad Hoc Committee, to be held in New York, from 29 January to 9 February 2024 will open on 16 October 2023 and close on 5 November 2023.
In operative paragraph 13 of its resolution 75/282, the General Assembly urged Member States to provide voluntary extrabudgetary financial contributions to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to ensure funding to enable the participation of representatives of developing countries, especially those that do not have resident representation in New York, in the work of the Ad Hoc Committee, including by covering their travel costs and accommodation expenses.
Pursuant to operative paragraph 5 of the General Assembly resolution 74/247 and operative paragraph 13 of the General Assembly resolution 75/282 and based on the predictable availability of voluntary contributions, the call will be open to developing countries, especially those that do not have resident representation in New York, to nominate one delegate per country to be financially supported to participate in the above meeting. Some potential donor countries have specified in their funding pledges to UNODC that priority in the granting of financial support be given to least developed countries, small island developing states and landlocked developing countries.
Member States are cordially invited to submit their applications for financial support through the Indico platform by 5 November 2023, 11:59 p.m. New York local time. Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. UNODC strongly encourages Member States to nominate female applicants. The delegates that would be financially supported to participate in the above meeting will be notified by 20 November 2023 . The financial assistance covers flight tickets, daily subsistence allowance, visa fees as applicable, and terminal expenses, based on applicable UN rules and regulations.
Please refer to the detailed information on the financial support before submission of applications.
The application can be submitted through the Indico website.
