ASK THE EXPERT FEATURE You are working on a cross-border case of firearms trafficking and are looking for a contact in a jurisdiction linked to the case to carry on your investigation? In countless workshops with practitioners from different regions of the world, we have learned that a major obstacle in transborder investigations is the lack of information on focal points and counterparts in other countries. In the worst case, investigations come to an end in the wheels of unanswered mutual legal assistance requests. We hope that the direct contact between counterparts in an early stage of the investigations may overcome these obstacles and pave the path to initiate official and straightforward investigations in cross-border cases. |
