On 21 October 2021, UNODC Global Firearms Programme (GFP) has facilitated the 5th Meeting of the Working Group on Firearms Data Collection in Ukraine. The overall objective of the Working Group is to ensure submission of high-quality information to UNODC’s Illicit Arms Flow Initiative (IAFI) on regular basis.
The members of the Working Group, who represent various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Police of Ukraine and the State Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, Prosecutor’s General Office, have continued their work on the review of the data for UNODC’ Questionnaire.
The meeting was dedicated on data required for Part III “Information on tracing results of arms seized, found and surrendered”, Part IV “Big seizures”, Part V ”Information on firearms parts and ammunition” and Part 6 “Criminal Justice System”
The experts reviewed questions in these parts , provided feedback and made recommendations for identifying and collecting relevant data. The representative of the National Police has made a presentation on the firearms data gathering process deployed at an operational level.
The next session of Wrong Group is scheduled for November 2021.
