Tahoua (Niger), 24 July 2023 - At an event to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons in July 2023, Niger’s National Agency for the Fight against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (ANLTP/TIM) announced its commitment to join the Blue Heart Campaign against human trafficking.
At an event at the Town Hall of the University of Tahoua, speakers underscored the significance of collective action in the fight against human trafficking and its far-reaching consequences on society. The event also served as the launch of Niger’s national anti-trafficking campaign.
The campaign was to raise awareness among the students of the University of Thaoua, as well as sensitize national stakeholders, NGOs, and the private sector to the fight against human trafficking. It also provided education on the challenging circumstances faced by victims, highlighting the imperative for support from all sectors.
To deepen community engagement, the Blue Heart Campaign-related activities in Niger featured a football match and a cultural and artistic evening. These events provided creative platforms to address the issue of human trafficking and actively involve the public in a meaningful dialogue.
The launch in Niger shows the country's dedication to the Blue Heart Campaign, not only through official support but also through impactful awareness-raising initiatives. By targeting diverse audiences, including university students and the general public, Niger aims to foster a comprehensive and united effort to combat human trafficking and support those affected by trafficking.
