Implementation of crime prevention is often challenging. Knowing theory is not enough to respond to a local crime issue and to successfully implement a crime prevention policy or programme. Engaging with the complexity of implementation is a sub-theme of this Module, and the Module includes a series of exercises to facilitate students' applied learning, using real world problems and issues. Students often find this process of engaging with the challenges of implementation rewarding but also slightly overwhelming in that it detracts from a simple or clean understanding of what crime prevention is.
