The prosecution of organized crime cases has progressed significantly in recent years. A large number of significant convictions have resulted from successful use of the prosecution tools described in this Module. Law enforcement cooperation, mitigating punishment, witness immunity, and witness protection have been significant tools in prosecuting both organized criminal groups and their members. Proper use of these prosecution strategies will ensure that future efforts to control organized crime can be successful.
